Liam Payne, former One Direction star, was advised by his psychiatrist to seek a "higher level of care" shortly before his untimely death, according to court documents filed in Argentina and obtained by TMZ.

The psychiatrist, who had been treating Payne for his mental health struggles, decided to end their professional relationship in September 2024, citing the need for specialized treatment beyond what she could provide.

In her letter, she detailed recommendations for Payne’s care, including adhering to prescribed medications, avoiding heavy drinking while on medication, weekly therapy, and ongoing consultations with primary care physicians and specialists. She emphasized the importance of therapy to address "depression and trauma" and provided a list of rehab centers and professionals for further support.

Liam had publicly shared his struggles with addiction in 2023, celebrating six months of sobriety after a 100-day rehab program. However, in October 2024, Payne suffered a relapse, culminating in his tragic fall from a Buenos Aires hotel balcony.

The circumstances surrounding his death have led to five individuals being charged, including a hotel employee accused of supplying him with drugs.
