José de la Torre, best known for his role as Iván in Netflix's Top Boy, has passed away at the age of 37.
The Spanish actor publicly shared his struggle with a severe illness in June, stepping away from the spotlight to focus on his health.
Hailing from Montilla, Spain, José was also a model for luxury fashion and jewelry brands, admired for his striking looks and talent. His final Instagram post, shared in June, showed him enjoying moments with friends in the Canary Islands, accompanied by the heartfelt caption: “The happiness of arriving in the Canary Islands, seeing your friends... and start singing until your voice breaks.”
José’s funeral, held last Friday, included a tribute from singer Lolita Flores, who said, “It breaks my heart to think I’ll never hear your voice again, but I’ll keep talking to you. Love you endlessly, José.”
Fans and friends alike have expressed their grief online. One follower shared, “In shock!! I don’t believe it!! RIP,” while another wrote, “You deserved more time, your energy, your light… it’s not fair.”
José had previously spoken about his passion for cinema, describing how it shaped his career. Reflecting on his early love for films, he said, “I was a child who couldn’t stop watching films… that planted the seed to pursue this as a career.”
