Lizzo has secured a legal victory in the ongoing harassment lawsuit filed against her, with a judge dismissing the claims made by former backup dancer Asha Daniels against the singer personally.

The ruling determined that harassment claims can only be made against Daniels' corporate employer, not Lizzo as an individual.

While Lizzo's personal involvement in the case has been dismissed, her company, Big Grrrl Big Touring (BGBT Inc.), is still facing significant legal challenges. The lawsuit, originally filed in September 2023, alleges that Daniels was subjected to long working hours, including 20-hour days, and claims that she overheard racist and fatphobic comments during her time as a makeup artist on Lizzo’s tour. Daniels also claims she was fired before her contract was completed.

Despite the dismissal of the individual claims against Lizzo, her touring company is not out of the woods. BGBT Inc. will continue to face the lawsuit and will be held accountable for any potential damages.

Lizzo has strongly denied all the allegations made in the lawsuit, maintaining that the claims are untrue. At the time of writing, Lizzo's representatives have not responded to requests for comment regarding the recent legal development.

This ruling marks a significant moment for Lizzo as she navigates the complexities of legal challenges involving her company and the conduct of those associated with her tour. Fans and the public are watching closely as the case progresses and the future of Big Grrrl Big Touring remains uncertain.
