PM Shehbaz offers funeral prayer of martyred Captain Zohaib

Premier offered condolences to Captain Zohaib's family and paid tribute to the fallen officer

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the funeral prayers of Captain Muhammad Zohaibuddin, who was martyred during an operation against Fitna al-Khawarij militants in Bannu. The service took place in Bannu and Peshawar garrisons on Sunday where top military officials and soldiers gathered to pay their respects.

According to Express News, Captain Zohaibuddin was laid to rest with full military honours in his hometown. Along with the captain, another martyr, Soldier Iftikhar Hussain, was buried with the same honours. The funeral prayers were attended by Lieutenant General Umar Ahmed Bukhari, Peshawar Corps Commander, as well as other senior military officials.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the soldiers were given full state honours, with Captain Zohaibuddin's family also present at the ceremony.

In a statement, the military spokesperson said, "The supreme sacrifices of our martyrs, such as Captain Zohaibuddin, strengthen our resolve and commitment to eradicating terrorism. The Pakistan Armed Forces remain determined to root out the menace of terrorism with unwavering support from the nation."

PM Shehbaz offered condolences to Captain Zohaibuddin's family and paid tribute to the fallen officer. "Captain Zohaib demonstrated exceptional bravery in combating the Khawarij terrorists. He is a source of pride for the entire nation, and we salute his courage," said the Prime Minister.

The captain was buried with full military honours at the Pak View City cemetery, where a large crowd of citizens also attended the funeral to pay their respects.

He was martyred on November 30 during an intelligence-based operation in the Shagai area of Khyber district. The operation led to the killing of three Khawarij militants and the capture of two others.
