KARACHI:

Amid heightened national security concerns in the wake of the Quetta suicide bombing, the railways authorities have directed the implementation of stringent security protocols across all stations in the country.

Inspector General of Railways Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan announced on Saturday that security across all railway stations and facilities nationwide, including Karachi, has been placed on high alert.

Extra railway police personnel have been deployed to key stations and facilities to ensure comprehensive security.

According to officials, Special Police (SP) units have been instructed to tighten surveillance, particularly at entry and exit points, where security has been substantially reinforced.

Moreover, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) teams have been deployed at major railway hubs, with searches conducted before each train's departure.

Passengers and their luggage will be thoroughly screened as they enter stations, and additional walk-through gates are being installed to enhance monitoring.

IG Khan also shared in a statement that increased Railway Police presence at entry and exit points now includes the inspection of all incoming vehicles.

Enhanced security protocols are also being implemented for passengers during travel, with additional female officers stationed to ensure a thorough security environment at railway stations.

"Efforts are underway to make railway stations, trains, and facilities foolproof in terms of security," he added, urging passengers to cooperate with the Railway Police and stay vigilant.
