Elon Musk's daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, has sparked significant online discussion following her recent comments about leaving the United States due to Donald Trump's re-election.
The 20-year-old, who legally changed her name and gender in 2022 to distance herself from Musk, took to Threads on November 6 to express her decision, writing, "I don't see my future being in the United States. Even if he’s only in office for 4 years... the people who willingly voted this in are not going anywhere anytime soon."
Vivian's concerns stem from fears of heightened anti-trans sentiments. In a Reddit thread, one user commented, "I don't blame her one bit. I hope she is able to find peace and will remain safe." Another said, "Glad she has that option. The majority of us don't."
Her father, however, has blamed their strained relationship on what he calls the "woke mind virus," a term he often uses to critique progressive ideologies.
Public reactions to Vivian’s announcement have been divided. While many sympathized with her decision, noting her bravery, others expressed skepticism about her ability to find a future outside the U.S.
"Good luck with that... it's not as easy as people think," one user posted. Vivian, who has previously described Musk as "cold" and "narcissistic," claimed in an interview that he was present in her life "maybe 10% of the time."
In contrast, Musk remains publicly active with his business ventures, focusing on Tesla, SpaceX, and other projects.
Vivian's comments have not elicited a public response from Musk, yet they continue to amplify the spotlight on his evolving political and social views.
