In an interview with GQ Hype, Slater reflected on the challenges of navigating personal life under public scrutiny, stating, “It was a really super big year... and difficult about things in your private life being commented on and looked at by the public.”

Slater described the impact of speculation and misinformation, particularly as it affected people close to him. He remarked, “There were a lot of big changes in private lives... so it’s really hard to see people who don’t know anything about what’s happening commenting on it and speculating, and then getting things wrong about the people you love.” Despite these challenges, Slater expressed pride in Grande’s dedication to her work on Wicked, describing it as “an amazing year and a really beautiful thing.”

Before his involvement in Wicked, Slater was best known for his Tony-nominated role in SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical, as well as appearances in Fosse/Verdon and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. His career spans Broadway, television, and film, bringing a diverse range of characters to life.

As Wicked nears release, Slater’s candid comments have offered insight into his perspective on fame and the unique pressures of balancing a high-profile relationship in Hollywood. His career continues to grow, with the Wicked film marking a significant step in his transition from stage to screen.
