The body of a Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) football coach, shot three days prior, was discovered in a flat located in the Defence Tauheed Commercial Area.
The victim was a father of three. The police have registered a case based on the complaint filed by the victim's son and have commenced an investigation.
According to details, early Tuesday morning, a gunshot victim's body was found in a flat on Street 28 of Defence Phase Five in the Clifton police station area.
The deceased was identified as 65-year-old Ghani Rehman, son of Gul Iman, a resident of Shah Rasool Colony and father of three children.
Ghani Rehman worked as a football coach in the KMC Sports Department. According to Clifton SHO Azam Rajper, he left home on the morning of October 26 and did not return. The victim's son filed a missing persons report at the Boat Basin police station.
Mobile phone location tracking indicated that the device was present in a flat in Defence Phase 5. When police called the phone while outside the flat, it rang inside.
Local residents reported that the flat appeared vacant, but some individuals would gather there. There is suspicion that a dispute among friends during one of these gatherings led to Ghani Rehman's murder.
Police recovered a 30 caliber pistol shell and a knife from the scene. A case has been registered against unknown assailants based on a complaint by the victim's son, Zubair Khan, and investigations are underway.
On the other hand, the victim's son, Muhammad Zubair Khan, stated that when his father came home on Friday night, he mentioned that someone had given him a narcotic substance, and he fell asleep after returning home.
In the morning, he left the house and was missing for three days. On the night between Monday and Tuesday, Zubair, along with the police, tracked his father's mobile phone location to Defence Phase 5, where they found his body, which had been dead for three days.
Earlier in Karachi, a body found in a metal trunk at the Site Area Metroville Shaheed Cemetery was identified as Shazia Abdul Waheed, a resident of Liaquatabad and mother of five. She was employed at a private factory in Godhra Camp and was reported to have been brutally tortured before her death.
The body, discovered wrapped in a sheet with her hands and feet bound and mouth taped, was located in the early hours of Monday last week.
Police arrived at the scene after receiving a report, called in a crime scene unit, and collected evidence.
Site SHO Chaudhry Javed Akhtar indicated that Shazia's body had likely been moved to the cemetery for disposal after the murder, but the suspects abandoned their plan. Initially, the victim, believed to be aged 40 to 45, could not be identified.
