After Liam Payne’s death, an autopsy was conducted to determine the cause. According to ABC News, authorities revealed that toxicology reports indicated Liam Payne had taken multiple drugs, including one known as "pink cocaine."

Pink cocaine is a combination of several drugs such as methamphetamine, ketamine, ecstasy, and crack. CTV News reported that DEA agent Bill Bodner stated:
"The first piece that we almost always see in pink, or pink cocaine, is ketamine - a dissociative drug, something that makes people feel like they're detached from reality. The second component is psychedelics. Very, very cheap to make and they can kind of tailor the drug to what the drug user is looking for.”

The designer drug has also been mentioned several times in a lawsuit against Sean "Diddy" Combs. Allegedly, many notorious parties hosted by the rapper involved the open availability of these drugs for guests.

Liam Payne passed away on October 16, 2024, after falling from the third floor of his hotel in Buenos Aires. Although the cause of his fall remains unclear, authorities reported finding alcohol and drugs in his room when they arrived for inspection.

Despite its name, pink cocaine includes substances like MDMA (ecstasy), ketamine, and methamphetamine. Some versions also contain fentanyl, LSD, and other addictive substances. As a luxury drug, it sells for at least $100 per gram, as reported by Marca.

First developed in Colombia, the drug has now spread to the USA and countries like Spain, the UK, and various parts of Europe. It’s also referred to as “tusi” or “tuci.”

Medical experts have frequently warned about the dangers of this drug, with overdoses potentially leading to fatal outcomes. Dr. Nelson from Santa Clara Valley Medical Center spoke to Marca, explaining:

"When I read the mixtures in the ingredients of this drug, I'm expecting agitation, hallucinations, psychosis, and hyperstimulation.”

WebMD also notes that pink cocaine may include large quantities of caffeine, bath salts, and even benzodiazepines. Common short-term side effects include confusion, nausea, high blood pressure, difficulty breathing, and seizures. Long-term effects can include sleep disorders, depression, anxiety, and memory issues.
