Harrison Ford, 82, will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross/Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World, set for release in 2025. In an interview with GQ, Ford discussed his decision to join the MCU, calling it “silly” to avoid such roles when audiences have responded positively to Marvel films for years. “I mean, this is the Marvel universe and I’m just there on a weekend pass,” Ford said, adding, “We’re silly if we sit around regretting the change and don’t participate.”

Ford also addressed the idea, expressed by some directors like Quentin Tarantino, that Marvel’s dominance has led to the "death of movie stars," with actors more associated with their superhero roles. Ford dismissed this notion, saying, “Oh, I think it’s rubbish… Whether or not they become movie stars is really not the point. If movies need stars, they will find them.”

As he promotes Season 2 of Apple TV+’s Shrinking, Ford reflected on his career and his view of acting, revealing that he sees comedy in many of his roles, including in dramatic films like Blade Runner and Witness. He explained, “Finding the humor in the moment is what makes it survivable for us most of the time.” Ford emphasized that he approaches both comedic and serious roles with the same mindset.
