Death toll from a deadly gas cylinder explosion inside a residential flat in Lyari's Bihar Colony rose to four when an injured woman succumbed to her injuries on Sunday.
The explosion, which occurred on October 2, initially left several members of a family fighting for their lives. Faiza, one of the victims, who had been severely burned in the explosion, passed away at the Burns Ward of Civil Hospital on Sunday, bringing the total number of deaths to four, including three women.
The victims include Qasim Ali, the sole breadwinner of the family, along with his mother Sajda, his wife Maryam, and his sister-in-law Faiza. Qasim's sister, who was also injured in the blast, remains in critical condition and continues to receive treatment at the hospital.
Moreover, Liaqat Ali, Qasim's father, and a seven-year-old girl were also injured but were treated for minor injuries and have since been discharged from the hospital.
The family is in mourning, grappling with the tragic loss of multiple members. Residents of the area are calling on authorities to ensure a reliable supply of natural gas from in Lyari, as many families currently rely on dangerous gas cylinders due to an inconsistent gas supply.
