As "brat summer" draws to a close, a coffee shop in Peoria, Illinois, had an unexpected brush with fame when both Charli xcx and Troye Sivan visited during rehearsals.
Singer Charli xcx, known for her “brat” persona and founder of the "brat summer" trend, stopped by Intuition Coffee in Peoria, much to the surprise of the staff. Ty Paluska, the owner, said, “Everyone that wasn't working thought it was a joke.”
According to Paluska, Charli ordered an avocado toast and a cold brew, sitting down quietly like a regular customer. He checked the security footage to confirm it really was the British singer-songwriter.
Charli was in town preparing for her upcoming "Sweat Tour," co-headlining with Australian singer-songwriter Troye Sivan, who also made multiple visits to the coffee shop.
Paluska mentioned that his staff made a conscious decision not to post about the stars’ visits on social media while they were still in town. "Our team was, like, amazing enough to like, give her the respect to not post anything about it," he explained.
Charli appreciated the gesture, telling the staff, “Thank you for not posting this everywhere, and like letting me just come and enjoy myself.”
After visiting five days in a row, the shop renamed Charli’s avocado toast order to the “BRAT Toast.” Paluska hopes their service will pay off when the duo performs in Chicago on Sept. 30, with dreams of a shout-out to Intuition Coffee.
