ABC News faces major 'talent crisis' after T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach scandal

ABC News is once again dealing with a major issue. Insiders report that the network is concerned because it has plenty of big names but lacks any successors.

The network has gone nearly two years without a head of talent, and sources tell Page Six that they are running low on top-tier news anchors, with no emerging stars to take over.

T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach were considered the last potential successors to Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, and Michael Strahan.

However, Holmes and Robach lost that opportunity after being fired in 2022 due to their affair scandal.

Their affair added to a chaotic period for the network, particularly for former ABC News president Kim Godwin.

Sources say the network's leadership may not have fully realized the long-term consequences of firing the former “GMA3” anchors over their secret relationship.

“Losing them at ‘GMA 3’ wasn’t the point. They were the primary replacements for [flagship morning show] ‘Good Morning America!’ That was their real value. Michael, George and Robin take 70 – 80 days off a year. You don’t get rid of people like that so quickly,” one source said.

Aside from Linsey Davis, who anchors the Sunday edition of “World News Tonight,” ABC is reportedly short on rising talent for both the morning show and David Muir’s primetime news slot.

“[ABC has] good correspondents, but they’re not stars. Linsey is not going to be the host of ‘GMA.’ She can easily be David’s replacement,” the source added.
