Residents Anthony Rurp and Jennifer Komperda, who live in the building across from where the shooter was located, were out walking their dogs when the gunfire erupted. “He was firing indiscriminately,” Rurp said. “It was wild shooting.” The couple was evacuated upon returning to their building, and they described the experience as "surreal."
Nearby, Jefferson Academy Secondary School remained on secure status, while two RTD bus routes, 120 and 112, were detoured to avoid the police activity in the area.
