Tory Lanez’s "Prison Tapes" have come to an end after prison guards at the California Correctional Institution confiscated the rapper’s recording equipment. The hip hop artist, currently serving time for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, had been releasing music while incarcerated. His legal team confirmed that his makeshift studio was shut down during a recent cell block raid.

Ceasar McDowell, CEO of Unite the People and part of Lanez's legal team, told TMZ Hip Hop that prison officials had warned Tory's team about the violation. McDowell explained, "Inmates are strictly forbidden from having recording devices for various reasons." The rapper had managed to produce several songs under the "Prison Tapes" series, including tracks like "Basement" and "Appellate Court," which gained traction in recent weeks, boosting his record sales.

Despite the halt in new music, Lanez's supporters continue to rally behind him. His single "The Color Violet" recently surpassed a billion streams, and fellow artists like Drake have publicly advocated for his release. The legal team is still awaiting further details on whether Lanez will face additional punishment following the equipment seizure.

The rapper, born Daystar Peterson, remains focused on his appeal while his fanbase shows unwavering support, but for now, new music from "Prison Tapes" is on hold.
