Joaquin Phoenix remains tight-lipped about his abrupt departure from Todd Haynes' untitled gay romance movie

Joaquin Phoenix, at the Venice Film Festival promoting 'Joker: Folie à Deux', declined to discuss his controversial exit from Todd Haynes' untitled gay romance film.

The Oscar winner, known for his thoughtful portrayals, stated that sharing his perspective without the other creatives present wouldn't be fair.   

The film, an NC-17 exploration of a gay relationship, was set to begin filming in Mexico but was indefinitely shelved following Phoenix's last-minute departure. Haynes, the acclaimed director, had previously praised Phoenix's commitment to pushing boundaries in the film.

Meanwhile, Phoenix is focusing on the upcoming 'Joker' sequel, where he reunites with director Todd Phillips and co-stars with Lady Gaga. The film's premiere at Venice is generating significant buzz, overshadowing the controversy surrounding the abandoned gay romance project.   

Phoenix's decision to remain silent on the matter leaves questions unanswered, fueling further speculation about the reasons behind his exit. As the Venice Film Festival unfolds, the focus shifts to 'Joker: Folie à Deux', leaving the fate of Haynes' film uncertain.
