Accountability Court rejected National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) request to restore reference to illegal allotment of government land in Clifton. The Accountability Court in Karachi ruled on a petition seeking to reinstate a reference regarding the alleged illegal allotment of government land in Clifton against former city Nazim Mustafa Kamal and others.
While talking to the media on Monday, Mustafa Kamal said, "I was acquitted by the accountability court after five years; the case was that I allotted government land during my tenure. Surprisingly, I had no authority to allot land; I do not own a single yard of personal land, despite being the authority in charge of Karachi's land."
Criticising the politically motivated accountability, he said, "The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government filed a case against me, which was later found to be baseless. I solemnly swear that I did not engage in corrupt activities. After five years, the court has declared the accusations against me to be false. I forgive those who filed false cases against me, but will they face any consequences for their actions?"
He believes the system is entirely corrupt and needs to be reformed. Reforms are also necessary in other areas, in addition to judicial reforms. In response to a question, he said law enforcement agencies should apprehend such criminal elements after what happened in Karachi yesterday. "How did they allow two sects to clash? We are people who respect all languages and cultures. Pakistan's stability today is due to the city's peace; we will not let it descend into chaos again." "Nobody considers the welfare of the common man. We have backed the government's efforts to lower electricity and gas prices. This country requires comprehensive reforms.
