“The Color Purple” made its presence felt at the DNC.
Oprah Winfrey may not be a Democrat, but she took the stage at the party’s 2024 national convention in Chicago on Wednesday, dressed in a striking purple suit that cleverly reflected her political stance through its violet hue.
The 70-year-old media icon — who informed the audience during her speech that she is “a registered Independent” — wore a custom Christian Siriano blazer paired with matching trousers, blending the Republican red and Democratic blue into a unified shade.
Winfrey’s blazer — made from a silk crepe fabric — featured a wide band around the waist, giving it a corset-like silhouette, and she complimented it with matching flowy trousers.
The former talk show host continued the purple theme with violet pumps and large amethyst drop earrings, and even her makeup was in lavender tones for the occasion.
Winfrey urged “all you Independents and all you undecideds” to support Harris, emphasizing that “values and character matter most of all.”
“First time speaking at the @demconvention—thank you for all the kind words. Now it’s time to what my forever FLOTUS @michelleobama said and ‘DO SOMETHING.’ 🗳️🇺🇸” Winfrey posted on Instagram Thursday morning, along with some behind-the-scenes photos and videos from her time at the convention.
Siriano also posted some photos from the proud moment, writing, “Thank you @oprah for tonight WOW! So so chic in custom Siriano giving a very powerful speech at the #DNC 💜💜💜.”
Although her suit was the ideal blend of blue and red for her significant speech, this isn’t the first time Oprah has donned this shade.
Last year, she wore various plum, lavender, and violet outfits while promoting “The Color Purple,” including a sequined Dolce & Gabbana gown and a refined pastel trouser suit.
