Ryan Reynolds has shared a heartfelt tribute to his Deadpool & Wolverine co-star Hugh Jackman, reflecting on their journey together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In an Instagram post on August 18, 2024, Reynolds recalled how Jackman reached out to him on August 14, 2022, to bring back his iconic role as Wolverine despite facing personal challenges, including the flu, flat tires, and a random egging of his house.

Reynolds highlighted the significance of Jackman returning as Wolverine, particularly in a comic-accurate yellow suit that had never been seen on screen before. He described the moment when Jackman first appeared on set in the suit, saying, "When Jackman stepped onto set in THAT SUIT… everyone knew something special was happening."

The Free Guy actor also reflected on the pressures he and the film's director, Shawn Levy, felt during production. They were particularly concerned about keeping the film's cameos a secret and how they would reintroduce beloved characters to the audience. Reynolds noted that despite these challenges, seeing Jackman in character reassured him that everything would work out.

Reynolds went on to share memories of meeting Jackman for the first time in Sydney in 2007 while filming X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He recalled feeling nervous as a supporting actor joining the production mid-way, but Jackman's respectful and appreciative demeanor made a lasting impression. Reynolds described Jackman as a "classy person who helps people around him" and referred to him as "THE X-MAN" in the post.

In response to Reynolds' tribute, Jackman commented that he was "crying again" and later reposted the message on his Instagram stories.
