Communal tensions flare up in India's Udaipur after school stabbing

Following the student stabbing incident, mob set several cars on fire prompting authorities to ban public gatherings

Local authorities suspended internet services in parts of Udaipur city in India's Rajasthan state in the aftermath of communal violence.

A class 10 student had reportedly stabbed a classmate at a government school on Friday that led to a mob setting several cars on fire and pelting stones on a shopping mall in Udaipur.

The motive behind the stabbing remains unclear.

Later a croed gahtered outside the government hospital where the stabbing victim was under treatment. It was dispersed by police.

Authorities responded by banning public gatherings in Udaipur and suspended internet services in the area to avoid further escalation of tensions.
