Taylor Swift criticized by Fox News host Harris Faulkner for pushing Kamala Harris on fans

Before the 2020 election, Swift also supported President Joe Biden's candidacy.

Fox News host Harris Faulkner recently delivered an unsolicited tirade against pop star Taylor Swift while talking about the singer's newest on-stage prop.

In a segment from Wednesday shared on Twitter by Media Matters for America's Lis Power, Faulkner was debating with a guest whether a silhouette seen during Swift's performance of "The Man" was intended to represent Vice President Kamala Harris.

Faulkner expressed frustration that, despite her 16-year-old daughter being a "huge fan" of Swift and the high cost of tickets to her shows, she had additional concerns about the pop star's political views.

"If we're gonna pay that much money as consumers, you don't need to serve up politics for that," Faulkner said. 

"Why can't you go to a concert without that? She can vote any way she wants, she can talk about it offstage. When people pay to see you, just perform."

Despite Faulkner's criticism, Swift is unlikely to scale back on sharing her political views with her millions of fans.

Before the 2020 election, Swift supported President Joe Biden's candidacy.

In 2021, the pop singer gained widespread attention for singing the lyric "f— the patriarchy" in the extended 10-minute version of her song "All Too Well." 

Earlier this year, young voters in the crucial battleground state of Pennsylvania indicated that Swift's endorsement of the Democratic ticket might be a key factor in motivating them to vote.

In 2020, she told V Magazine, "the change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included."
