Health authority punishes 22 medics

Sacks 11 UMCOs, deducts salary of 10 doctors for poor performance

RAWALPINDI:

The District Health Authority (DHA) has dismissed 11 Union Council Medical Officers (UMCOs) from service for showing poor performance during the polio campaign. Seven other UCMOs have also been punished for minor misconduct.

The Authority also deducted the salaries of 10 doctors for remaining absent from duty. They belong to primary health centres and rural health centres.

DHA's new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Asif Arbab initiated strict disciplinary action across all health units, receiving appreciation from the Secretary of Health during the Chief Executive Officers Conference.

He dismissed 11 UCMOs under the PEEDA Act due to their poor performance in the anti-polio campaign. The dismissed UCMOs include Usman Irshad, Shoaib, Ijaz Ahmed, Muhammad Ahmed, Hafiz Abid, Abbas, Zeib Ali, Fauzia Atif, Sonia Bashir, Faiza Shauqat and Nabila Saleem.

Seven UCMOs, who have been punished for minor misconduct, are Aamir Hussain, Rabia Saleem, Moazam Ali, Osama Ghaffar, Ahsan Naveed, and Komal Ramzan.

The salaries of 10 doctors, who were absent from duty without approved leave, were deducted. Similarly, the three-day salary of Dr Muhammad Amar Aslam from BHU Hensar Kahota and the four-day pay of Dr Yasri Parveen from BHU Hayal Sharif Rawalpindi have been deducted. A fresh warning has been issued to all doctors to ensure their presence on duty to avoid penalties.

Meanwhile, the new administration cancelled the leave of Lady Health Visitor Musrat. Additionally, Area Inspector Sadia Manzoor was issued a show-cause notice.
