The three-day celebrations marking the 555th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak have officially begun in Hasan Abdal, with thousands of Sikh pilgrims from around the world arriving to participate in the historic event.
Over 2,500 Sikh devotees from neighbouring India have also reached Gurdwara Panja Sahib, with special buses provided for their journey under stringent security measures.
To ensure the safety and well-being of the visitors, comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place, including coordinated patrols by law enforcement personnel throughout the city. In addition, Municipal Corporation staff have been deployed to assist with unloading the pilgrims' luggage and ensuring smooth logistical support.
The celebrations, which will culminate tomorrow, include a series of religious rituals, including the 'bhog' (ritual offering) ceremony, along with a special gathering at the Baba Wali Kandahari shrine on Sakhi Randa Pir Hill, where pilgrims will participate in prayers and reflection.
To maintain security during the event, all markets in Hasan Abdal have been closed, and a robust security protocol is in effect across the city. Local law enforcement is actively patrolling to ensure a peaceful and organised celebration.
The event is being hailed as a momentous occasion for Sikh devotees, fostering spiritual connection and community, while showcasing the enduring legacy of Baba Guru Nanak's teachings. The three-day celebrations will conclude tomorrow with a grand religious ceremony.
