MITHI:

In a historic move for Sindh, the Tharparkar-based non-profit organisation Thar Education Alliance (TEA) has launched an enrollment drive in collaboration with local councilors from 15 wards of Mithi. The initiative began on Thursday.

Chief Executive Officer Partab Shivani announced that the Minister of Education has introduced the drive under the theme "Science and Sindh," aiming to boost school enrollment to six million students. The goal is to integrate out-of-school children into the education system.

Shivani said, "If councilors can conduct door-to-door campaigns for votes, they can similarly advocate for education. Councilors should commit to enrolling children from their wards in schools."

He stressed that local authorities and parliamentarians should take responsibility for adopting schools in their constituencies.

The 14-day drive began in Jagdish Colony and concluded in Gujratai Mohalla on its first day. The community, along with teachers and other stakeholders, participated in the initiative.

Councilor Khatau Mukhi of Ward No. 11 in Mithi personally visited homes, encouraging parents to enroll their children in schools.

He suggested that children unable to secure early admissions could attend non-formal education centres, helping them remain in the educational system.
