Taylor Swift, renowned for her fervent NFL fandom, and boyfriend Travis Kelce skipped the 2024 ESPY Awards held on July 11.
Swift, currently on her Eras Tour across Europe, concluded shows in Zürich on July 10 and is scheduled for performances in Milan on July 13 and 14. Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, the ESPY Awards, where Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs were nominated for Best Team, proceeded without their attendance.
Kelce, who also missed the ceremony, and Swift were highlighted in host Serena Williams’ monologue. Williams humorously referenced Kelce’s Super Bowl win with teammate Patrick Mahomes and joked about their extravagant romance, comparing it to NBA player Jaylen Brown’s beard expenses.
Despite not attending the ESPYs, Swift and Kelce have recently increased their public appearances together during Swift’s European tour. Kelce even surprised fans by joining Swift on stage during her London show on June 23, debuting during her performance of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”
Kelce recounted the moment on his “New Heights” podcast, revealing it was his idea. He expressed nervousness about the stunt but delighted in the opportunity to participate in Swift’s show. He also surprised Swift during her Dublin concert on June 30 and enthusiastically supported her in Amsterdam earlier in July.
Their relationship, which began in summer 2023, has been marked by supportive gestures and public displays of affection. Sources close to the couple, speaking exclusively to Us Weekly in June, indicated that their bond is strong and likely to endure.
