Young Sherlock has officially been renewed for a second season at Amazon Prime Video, continuing the origin story of the iconic detective.

The announcement confirms the return of key creative talent and cast members as the series expands its Victorian-era mystery universe.

Director Guy Ritchie will return to helm the first episode of season 2 after directing the opening episodes of season 1. Hero Fiennes Tiffin will also reprise his role as the young Sherlock Holmes, continuing the character’s early journey before becoming the legendary Baker Street investigator.

According to Amazon MGM Studios, the series has resonated globally with audiences, with executives highlighting its fresh approach to the detective’s origin story and the introduction of early versions of key figures such as James Moriarty. The show has been praised for blending mystery, action, and a stylized Victorian setting.

Season 1 followed a younger Sherlock Holmes as he becomes entangled in a murder investigation that uncovers a larger international conspiracy. The storyline also explored his first encounters with Moriarty, setting the stage for their long-running rivalry.

The series is created for television by Matthew Parkhill, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. Additional executive producers include Marc Resteghini, Ivan Atkinson, and others, with Motive Pictures handling production.

With its renewal, Young Sherlock is expected to further explore the formative years of one of fiction’s most famous detectives, expanding both character arcs and global mysteries in season 2.
