Lizzo has spoken publicly about her ongoing legal battle with former backup dancers, making clear that she has no intention of settling the lawsuit brought against her in 2023. The case includes allegations of sexual harassment and claims of toxic workplace behaviour, all of which she has consistently denied.

In a televised interview on CBS Mornings, Lizzo addressed the situation directly and explained why she believes continuing to fight the case in court is the only option. She said that while settling might appear to be the simpler path, she is unwilling to do so because she maintains that the accusations are untrue. She described the legal process as something she is taking seriously, particularly because of her public influence and the responsibility she feels towards her audience.

The lawsuit was filed by three of her former dancers, who accused the singer of pressuring them inappropriately during work-related travel and rehearsals, along with allegations relating to discrimination and workplace conduct. Lizzo and her legal representatives have strongly rejected these claims, calling them inaccurate and unsupported by evidence.

In previous court developments, a judge dismissed parts of the case relating to fat-shaming allegations, which were among the more widely discussed aspects of the lawsuit. Lizzo responded at the time by reiterating that she has never fired anyone based on body size and said she has consistently supported body positivity and inclusion throughout her career. She also stated that the dancers were dismissed due to unrelated professional conduct issues, including the alleged unauthorised recording and sharing of private material.

Despite the legal pressure, Lizzo said she remains confident and calm. She told CBS Mornings that she believes the truth will ultimately become clear and suggested that public speculation often exaggerates the reality of the situation. She also emphasised that she is focusing on her music career alongside the legal proceedings.

The singer is preparing to release a new album titled Bitch, scheduled for June 5. She described the project as a key creative focus during a difficult period, adding that she is drawing strength from her belief in her work and personal integrity.

As the case continues to move forward, no final judgement has been reached. Both sides are expected to present further arguments if the matter proceeds to trial. For now, Lizzo remains firm in her decision to contest the allegations in court rather than pursue a settlement, stating that she is confident the outcome will support her version of events.
