Police, Norwegian delegation discuss security reforms

Second Secretary Azra Kurtovic of the Royal Norwegian Embassy visited the Central Police Office, accompanied by her delegation, including the embassy’s police liaison officer Per Martin. The delegation met with Additional IG Welfare and Finance Riaz Nazir Gara to discuss mutual interests and security concerns of Pakistani-Norwegian citizens.

During the meeting, the Norwegian delegation was briefed on Punjab Police’s infrastructure development, IT reforms and public service delivery initiatives. Additional IG Riaz Nazir Gara highlighted the services provided through Virtual Women Police Stations, Police Khidmat Centres, and initiatives for assisting and rehabilitating affected individuals. He noted that over 30,000 individuals from vulnerable communities have received assistance through Tahaffuz Centers.

Additionally, over 370 MOUs have been signed with various institutions to support the weaker sections of society.

Emphasizing women’s empowerment, Riaz Nazir Gara mentioned that Punjab Police has increased female representation within the department, with over 9,000 women delivering exemplary services.

Security and protection of the rights of all foreign nationals, including Norwegians, remain a top priority for Punjab Police.
