Angelina Jolie is thriving and 'very proud of her kids' amid Brad Pitt legal battle

The Academy Award-winning actress had an eventful evening at the 2024 Tony Awards, celebrating her new Broadway production, The Outsiders, which won accolades including Best New Musical. Jolie, aged 49, collaborated on the show as a co-producer, making it a special project involving her 15-year-old daughter Vivienne, who contributed to the production.

According to a close source speaking to PEOPLE, "Angie seems very happy and content with her life." 

"She's focused on her kids and work. She's involved in projects that she truly cares and feels passionate about."

The insider also notes about Jolie, who shares daughters Zahara, 19, and Shiloh, 18, as well as sons Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, and Knox, 15, with her ex Brad Pitt, "She's very proud of her kids."

According to a report from PEOPLE in August 2023, Vivienne's enthusiasm following their attendance at The Outsiders' world premiere in California prompted her mother to step into a lead producer role for the musical.

During the show's April premiere in New York City, Jolie shared with PEOPLE that Vivienne shows a knack for theater producing by correcting her, "she'll say, 'Didn't you read the memo? We have to do this. We have to go through this.' "

At that time, the Girl, Interrupted star commented on her daughter, saying, "She's been a really tough assistant." 

"She takes it very, very seriously."

Jolie and Vivienne were also seen together in Los Angeles on May 30, attending the opening night of Reefer Madness: The Musical. They were photographed on the red carpet posing with Jolie's friend Kristen Bell, who is a producer of the musical.

At this year's June 16 Tony Awards, The Outsiders received an impressive 12 nominations and won three other awards besides Best New Musical: Best Direction of a Musical, Best Lighting Design in a Musical, and Best Sound Design in a Musical.

Earlier in the same month, Jolie marked her 49th birthday with "a quiet day at home with her kids," according to a source close to the actress speaking to PEOPLE.

The insider also mentioned "Zahara is home from college, and she looks forward to everyone spending the day together."

Jolie's most recent appearances on the big screen were in Marvel Studios' superhero film Eternals and the thriller Those Who Wished Me Dead, both released in 2021.

Her next role is in the upcoming biopic Maria, where she stars as Maria Callas, directed by Pablo Larraín. The drama was filmed in 2023 and is currently in post-production, although a release date has not been announced yet.

Jolie appears to be thriving despite the ongoing complex legal battle with her ex, Brad Pitt, over their French estate and winery, Château Miraval.

The dispute began when Jolie sold her shares to a Russian businessman in 2021. Pitt alleges she violated their agreement by not offering him first refusal. In response, Jolie's company has countersued, accusing Pitt of attempting to take control of the winery and misusing its funds.
