Forest arsonist arrested in Haripur

HARIPUR:

An accused named Yasir has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to forests in the Khoi Kuman area of Khanpur.

The forest department apprehended Yasir and handed him over to the Khanpur police station.

The police have registered a case and initiated legal proceedings against him. Yasir is accused of igniting the forest fires for personal gain as part of a conspiracy.

The fires destroyed hundreds of acres of land, resulting in significant damage to grass, trees, and wildlife, including wild birds.

According to forestry department officials, Yasir did not provide a valid reason for setting the fires during the initial investigation. Efforts are ongoing to identify any accomplices involved in the incident.
