Hugh Grant has issued a blistering critique of Rishi Sunak’s Conservative Party just before the polls open for the UK general election.

The Notting Hill star condemned the Tories in light of predictions of a significant defeat for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s party.

On Tuesday, Grant shared an anti-Tory post by broadcaster Carol Vorderman, who highlighted the impact of a tactical voting website aiming to push the Conservative Party into third place. The site had amassed nearly four million views.

“Nearly FOUR MILLION VIEWS on our website so far. Just type in your postcode,” Vorderman wrote.

“We can make history TOGETHER. Aiming for Tories into 3rd place just as the Survation indicates can happen #TacticalVoting.”

Grant, a long-time critic of the Conservative Party, encouraged his followers to visit the site, stating, “They destroyed our country. Let’s destroy them.”

Grant’s comments came as former Prime Minister Boris Johnson made a last-minute plea for voters to support the Conservatives ahead of the election on Thursday (4 July).

Sunak has been working to regain support, suggesting that only 130,000 voters were needed to prevent a Labour “supermajority,” which Johnson described as “the height of insanity” in a speech that was labeled a “desperate new low.”

Johnson also criticized Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer and urged Conservative voters considering Nigel Farage’s Reform UK to reconsider, referring to Farage as a “Kremlin crawler.”

Grant has been vocal in his opposition to the Conservative government for years.

After the Conservative party's victory in the 2019 general election, Grant tweeted minutes after the exit poll data was released, showing a landslide majority for Johnson: “There goes the neighbourhood,” he wrote, warning of the impact Johnson’s leadership would have on the UK.

In 2022, he described the party as “insecure nut jobs” following then-culture secretary Nadine Dorries' comments about changing BBC funding in 2027.
