Sam Worthington, star of the Avatar franchise, recently provided a production update for the much-anticipated ‘Avatar 3.’

Following the monumental success of James Cameron's original ‘Avatar’ in 2009 and its hit sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, in 2022, plans for additional entries in the series have been solidified. Originally slated for a December 2024 release, ‘Avatar 3’ is now expected to hit theatres in December 2025, continuing the story of the Sully family.

In an interview with ExtraTV at the premiere of ‘Horizon: An American Saga’, Worthington confirmed that pick-up filming for ‘Avatar 3’ is ongoing. "They’re still filming. They’re down in New Zealand filming more of three. I think I go in tomorrow to do some more, so yeah we just keep going," Worthington shared.

While Jake Sully, portrayed by Worthington, remains a central figure, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ introduced new family members, including Lo'ak (Britain Dalton), who is set to take over as the narrator in the upcoming sequel. Despite this shift, Jake Sully is expected to continue playing a significant role in the evolving saga of Pandora.
