Lilly King has achieved a new milestone on her journey to the 2024 Paris Olympics — she is now engaged.

Shortly after securing her spot in the 200-meter breaststroke during Thursday's Olympic trials, the 27-year-old swimmer was surprised with a heartfelt proposal from her boyfriend, James Wells.

A video shared by NBC Sports captured the emotional moment, where King was visibly moved as Wells expressed his love and popped the question.

"Getting to watch you over the last four years, both in and out of the pool, and just to see you grow has been so awesome," Wells said as King looked away and joked that she needs someone to fix her hair.

"I don't regret for a minute dropping my job and moving halfway across the country for us to move in together," Wells continued. "It has been awesome, and I am very excited to see where this is going. So, dear, I was wondering, Lilly Camille King, will you marry me?"

King promptly accepted, kissing Wells and embracing him tightly.

In an interview following the event, King revealed she had no clue about the proposal.

King is set to compete for Team USA in both the 200-meter and 100-meter breaststroke events.

Earlier this month, King stated that she does not have her sights set on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
