Lana Del Rey has offered further explanation regarding her ongoing dispute with fellow artist Ethel Cain, following recent speculation about tension between the two musicians.

The feud gained attention after Del Rey posted a video on Instagram featuring a snippet from an unreleased track, rumoured to be titled All About Ethel. The lyrics appear to reference Cain directly, prompting Cain to announce on her Instagram Story that Del Rey had blocked her on the platform.

In a new Instagram comment, Del Rey shared more details about her perspective. She stated, “I didn’t know who Ethel was until a few years ago — when someone brought to my attention the disturbing and graphic side-by-side images she would often put up of me next to unflattering creatures and cartoon characters making constant comments about my weight, I was confused at what she was getting at. Then when I heard what she was saying behind closed doors from mutual friends and started inserting herself into my personal life I was definitely disturbed.”

Cain has not publicly responded to these allegations. Earlier, fans had speculated that the feud might involve musician Jack Donoghue, who previously dated Del Rey. The new track includes the lyric: “Ethel Cain hated my Instagram post / Think it’s cute reenacting my Chicago pose,” referencing similar photographs of both artists with Donoghue.

Del Rey’s upcoming album, from which the song is expected to appear, was initially slated for May 2025 but has been delayed. Two tracks have already been released, with more teased during her Stagecoach Festival performance in April 2025.

The situation remains ongoing, with no further statements from Cain at this time.
