PESHAWAR:

Former Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court Ibrahim Khan has decided not to become the chairman of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Medical Teaching Institutions Tribunal and informed the secretary health about his decision.

In his letter sent to the health secretory, the former chief justice wrote that the provincial government had issued a notification on June 11 regarding his appointment as the MTI Tribunal chairman, which is a testament to his professional expertise.

However, it is a misconception that he was given this position in return for supporting the ruling party after the May 9 incident and the recent elections.

“I appreciate the government decision but there is a widespread misconception that since I supported the PTI in my court decisions after the May 9 riots so the provincial government rewarded me for those decisions,” it reads.

He clarified that his judicial decisions were impartial and in accordance with the rule of law, and he appreciates the provincial government’s decision but wants to dispel this misconception by not accepting the important post.

Officials told The Express Tribune that the letter has been received by the secretary health and he would inform the government about it.
