Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb on Wednesday proposed a 22-25% increase in salaries on an ad-hoc basis and a 15% increase in pensions for retired government employees. An increase was also announced in the minimum wage from Rs32,000 to Rs36,000 per month.
While presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, the minister emphasised that despite financial constraints, the government had chosen to provide a 25% relief in salaries for employees from Grade 1-16, and a 22% increase for those in Grade 17-22, with the aim of bolstering their purchasing power.
