PESHAWAR:

An inquiry has been initiated against four officials of the Bahrain Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) in the Swat district for torturing a dog.

The incident took place two days ago, according to a viral video on social media.

The video purportedly showed a dog being dragged in the market tied to a TMA vehicle.

Following the widespread criticism and outrage on social media, the four TMA officials were suspended.

According to TMA Officer Faheem, a rabid dog attacked six people in Bahrain, after which, the people present there started beating the dog with sticks while the local police called the TMA to dispose of the dog to prevent further harm to the general public.

In response, TMA’s Sanitary Worker Shamsur Rehman, Supervisor Fazal Raziq, Driver Riaz, and another official reached there and tied one leg of the rabid dog to their vehicle and took it away by dragging while the animal was still alive.

The employees said they were afraid to touch the dog and load it onto the vehicle.
