Jennifer Lopez's $90 million Las Vegas residency deal is reportedly in jeopardy due to poor ticket sales for her upcoming ‘This Is Me... Live tour’ and rumors of marital troubles with Ben Affleck.
The Mirror reported in February indicated that J.Lo, 54, was being considered for a 90-show residency at The Park MGM Theater, with a potential earning of $1 million per concert.
However, the New York Post now suggests the deal is uncertain, as casino executives are concerned about the poor performance of her new album and tour.
A New York Post insider mentioned that MGM is nervous about her weak tour sales, which could result in a reduced payment of $500,000 to $600,000 per show and fewer concerts than planned.
Discussions between J.Lo and MGM are ongoing, but no agreement has been finalized.
Despite her previous success with a Las Vegas Residency from 2016 to 2018, recent developments have been challenging, the Mirror reports.
In late June, she canceled shows in seven cities without explanation, and her tour, rebranded from ‘This Is Me... Now: The Tour’ to ‘This Is Me... Live,’ has struggled to sell tickets.
Industry sources speculate that Lopez might be overexposed due to her marriage, honeymoon, movie release, album launch, and a self-funded documentary about her and Affleck's love story, the Daily Mail reports.
Her latest album, ‘This Is Me... Now,’ debuted at number 38 on the Billboard chart, her first not to make the top 20.
Amidst these professional setbacks, Lopez is also facing personal issues.
Rumors suggest that her marriage to Ben Affleck is strained, with reports of them living separately and Affleck being seen without his wedding ring.
The couple, however, reunited publicly on May 16 at Ben's child's school recital.
Overall, the future of J.Lo's Las Vegas residency remains uncertain amidst these professional and personal challenges.
