Channel 4 has decided not to air the final episode of the 2026 series of The Great Celebrity Bake Off due to the inclusion of former BBC DJ Scott Mills, who was recently dismissed from the BBC over a historic sexual offence investigation. A spokesperson for the network said the decision followed careful consideration of the circumstances, acknowledging the seriousness of the accusations.

“An alternative episode of Celebrity GBBO will go out in its place,” the spokesperson added, explaining that the timing and context made it inappropriate to broadcast Mills’ episode.

Mills had been under investigation in 2017 for a historic sexual offence involving a teenage boy. While the investigation concluded with no charges and was officially dropped, the BBC terminated Mills’ employment last week after new information emerged that rendered his continued role untenable. He had been hired in 2025 to take over from Zoe Ball on Radio 1’s “The Big Breakfast Show,” and the BBC confirmed it was aware of the earlier investigation before his hiring.

Alongside Mills, the celebrity spin-off featured a diverse lineup including JoJo Siwa, Mutya Buena, Rose Ayling-Ellis and Ambika Mod. The series, part of the Stand Up to Cancer charity initiative, now plans to broadcast a different episode to maintain the schedule while addressing public concerns.

The decision highlights how networks are increasingly cautious about airing content involving figures facing serious allegations, even if the legal process did not result in charges. Channel 4’s spokesperson emphasised that the move was made with respect to the audience and those affected by the controversy.

As the situation unfolds, the replaced episode will give viewers the opportunity to continue enjoying the show without controversy overshadowing the charity-focused event. The network has not confirmed if Mills’ appearance will ever be aired in the future, and the focus remains on maintaining the integrity and tone of the series while supporting the Stand Up to Cancer campaign.
