Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who turned 52 on May 2nd, received a belated but heartwarming birthday surprise from the cast and crew of the upcoming live-action "Moana" reimagining. The actor shared a video on Instagram capturing the moment he walked into a room filled with well-wishers singing "Happy Birthday," accompanied by vocal supervisor Alex Lacamoire on piano.

In the video, Johnson, reprising his role as the voice of Maui, expressed his gratitude to the team, which included director Thomas Kail. He then blew out candles on a cookie cake and shared his excitement about the project.

"What a day we had putting the song up on its feet," Johnson said as his "Moana" track "You're Welcome" played in the background. "A new version of it, I can't wait to make this film with you guys. Our live-action 'Moana,' and I will pop this open... to Moana and build the universe of Moana with the best partners in the world. I love you guys," he added, before taking a sip of his Teremana tequila.

The caption accompanying the video highlighted Johnson's surprise and appreciation for the gesture. The team's camaraderie and enthusiasm for the project were evident in the video, building anticipation for both the live-action remake and the upcoming sequel, "Moana 2."

Earlier this year, Disney confirmed the development of "Moana 2," set to follow Moana and Maui on a new adventure with a fresh crew of seafarers. The animated sequel is scheduled to hit theatres in November, while the live-action version is expected to release in 2026.
