If you thought Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s first Cannes Film Festival look was a miss, the second one will have you questioning whether the Bollywood star’s stylist has a personal vendetta against her. The Devdas actor donned a theatrical blue silver, and for a lack of a better word, confetti gown, as she attended the screening of Kinds of Kindness.

The outfit was from the house of designer duo, Falguni and Shane Peacock who are known for their vibrant and contemporary designs. They usually never miss the mark when it comes to styling A-listers. This time, however, they aimed for the moon but ended up on Jupiter with a hole in their spacesuit. As soon as images of the actor on the red carpet hit social media, the wolves attacked. Netizens began criticising Aishwarya’s look in a series of side-splitting comments. One user commented, "Her stylist hates her more than her in-laws." Another wrote, "My Christmas tree is better decorated than this," and we have no doubt that may be true.

While some jumped at the chance to be the first to comment, a section of the Internet was busy curating memes on the look. Some X users agreed that the outfit was almost certainly party decoration-inspired. "Tell me it does not look like those decorative strings you use at home parties," a user wrote.

The piñata theme was definitely a favourite.

"I have a feeling Aishwarya secretly promotes an aluminum foil brand at her Cannes appearances," wrote another user on X.

A veteran at the prestigious film festival, fans fawn over Aishwarya’s red carpet-looks every year, and a number of them did this year as well. "None of us or the models would be able to carry this dress like how she did. Do you think anybody else could look this beautiful wearing this? No. Stars, sunshine, sparkles, glow, drama, beauty all in one frame. My favourite photo," wrote a user.

These fans, however, may have been lost in the fog of their steadfast affection and couldn't see past the rose-tinted lenses.
