The anime series, ‘Terminator Zero,’ will premiere globally on August 29th, 2024 on Netflix.

The eight-episode animated series revolves around new characters in the ‘Terminator’ universe.

The series’ official synopsis reads, “2022: A future war has raged for decades between the few human survivors and an endless army of machines. 1997: The AI known as Skynet gained self-awareness and began its war against humanity.”

Mattson Tomlin, who previously wrote The Batman Part II and Project Power, explained to Entertainment Weekly that “it [the show] didn’t have anything to do with continuity, which feels like the obvious head scratcher, given all the time tampering across six movies.”

Tomlin told Entertainment Weekly, the show treats all the past films as canon. “We're not going to pretend that the third movie didn't happen. We're not going to pretend that the sixth movie didn't happen.”

The 'Terminator' series has expanded across six movies, a TV show, books, comics, games, and web series.

It all started with James Cameron's 1984 sci-fi hit 'The Terminator,' featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger as a cyborg assassin targeting Sarah Connor, played by Linda Hamilton.

'Terminator Zero' stands as the inaugural anime installment in the franchise.
