Sigourney Weaver is reportedly in discussions to become part of the cast for ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu.’
Reports by The Hollywood Reporter and Variety said that the actress who is represented by the United Talent Agency, would be joining the latest project to be directed by Jon Favreau, the creator of ‘The Mandalorian.’
The movie is expected to begin filming later this year.
Favreau will produce alongside Kathleen Kennedy, the head of Lucasfilm, and Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm's chief creative officer.
Sigourney Weaver, a three-time Academy Award nominee, is best known for her role in the ‘Alien’ franchise, starting with Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi horror classic and continuing with James Cameron's 1986 sequel, ‘Aliens.’
She has since appeared in two more ‘Alien’ films and her portrayal of the maternal monster fighter Ripley has been influential, inspiring other female action heroes.
Weaver also reunited with Cameron for the ‘Avatar’ franchise, with more films in development.
‘The Mandalorian’ debuted in November 2019 on Disney+, featuring the character known as Baby Yoda, which became a cultural phenomenon.
Pedro Pascal stars as Din Djarin, also known as ‘The Mandalorian,’ a warrior who initially cares for Grogu reluctantly.
