Cylinder filled with ammonia gas exploded in the factory, also damaging walls

HYDERABAD:

An explosion in an ice factory in Larkana district on Saturday left two persons, including a boy, injured with burns. According to DSP Zahoor Soomro, the incident happened in a factory in Naka number seven area.

Injured boy, Allah Dino Kalhoro, 13, received 80 per cent burn injuries, the doctors said. The other injured person Abdul Hakeem Panhwar, who worked as a technician in the factory, sustained less injuries.

A cylinder filled with ammonia gas exploded in the factory, also damaging walls of at least two neighbouring houses. The roof of the factory also caved in.

In a similar incident in Matiri district on March 19, four persons including a boy lost their lives. The cause of the blast in the earlier incident was also the blast of an ammonia gas cylinder. Our correspondent
