Man awarded 80 lashes for denying paternity to child, accusing ex-wife of adultery

Testimony of accused not admissible in any court after the conviction is confirmed by the federal shariah court

The Additional District and Sessions Judge Malir awarded an accused 80 lashes under the Qazaf Ordinance 1979 in a case of denying paternity of a girl child and accusing his wife of adultery.

In the Malir Court in Karachi, Additional District and Sessions Judge Shahnaz pronounced the verdict in a case related to denying the paternity of the girl and accusing the wife of adultery. The court announced the verdict that the accused Farid should get 80 lashes.

The testimony of the accused will not be admissible in any court after the conviction is confirmed by the Federal Shariah Court. Under the same section, the accused is granted bail. The court ordered the accused to submit a bond of Rs100,000.

The court said in the verdict that the accused must be present for the execution of the sentence at the time and place fixed by the court. The court said in the verdict that during the hearing, no request for pardon was filed by the accused and the accused did not deny the allegations of adultery against his ex-wife.

According to the prosecution, the plaintiff was married to the accused in 2015. After staying at the accused's house for a month, she went back to her house. Where gave birth to a daughter. The plaintiff approached the court for non-payment of alimony. The court pronounced a verdict against the accused.

During the trial, two petitions were filed by the accused.
