Memon, Marriott discuss ways to enhance bilateral ties

Sindh minister assures British high commissioner of govt’s full support over foreign investment in transport sector

In a bid to bolster bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, British High Commissioner Jane Marriott and Deputy High Commissioner Sarah Mooney engaged in fruitful discussions with Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon in Karachi on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the esteemed delegates delved into various facets of Pakistan-UK relations, seeking pathways to fortify and expand cooperation between the two nations. High on the agenda were strategies to intensify bilateral collaboration in areas of mutual interest, with a focus on enhancing the existing partnership.

Minister Memon took the opportunity to apprise the British High Commission delegation of the Sindh government's performance, shedding light on the strides made in various sectors under his administration. Furthermore, he highlighted the achievements of his departments, underscoring the commitment to promoting public welfare projects in the region.

The dedication of the Sindh government to public welfare initiatives did not go unnoticed by the British High Commissioner, who commended the efforts made in this regard. Specifically, Marriott expressed admiration for the innovative Pink Bus Service for women in Sindh, lauding it as a commendable step toward ensuring gender inclusivity and safety.

In response, Memon reiterated the government's commitment to advancing public welfare agendas and emphasised Pakistan's attractiveness as an investment destination. Encouraging foreign investors to explore opportunities in Sindh, particularly in the transport sector, he assured them of full support and assistance from the provincial government.

As a gesture of goodwill and appreciation, Minister Memon presented traditional Sindhi Lungi and Topi to the distinguished guests, symbolising the rich cultural heritage of the region.
