Faisal Vawda, an independent candidate supported by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) for the general Senate seat, has emphasised the importance of revolution without jeopardising national security.

Speaking at the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Sindh office in Karachi on Tuesday, Vawda stressed that true revolution does not entail endangering the country's safety. “Revolution does not come by becoming ‘Maula Jatt’ [an iconic character from Pakistani cinema],” he maintained.

During the media interaction, Vawda highlighted his positive relationship with MQM-Pakistan and acknowledged the nation's strength and development. However, he criticised the Ministry of Interior's stagnant system over the past six years, attributing it to delays in his nomination process, which he clarified had been resolved.

“Probably some criminal record of mine was being searched, but now the matter has been cleared and my nomination papers have been approved,” he maintained.

Vawda hinted at revealing a ‘breaking news’ soon and expressed support for key figures within MQM-Pakistan, including Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Mustafa Kamal, Rauf Siddiqui, and Faisal Sabzwari.

Reflecting on his past differences with PTI founder Imran Khan, Vawda reiterated that revolution should not endanger national security.

Without naming, he also came down hard on a political party for running an anti-army campaign on social media, saying mocking the martyrs is senseless and vulgar. He said online trolls are mostly “sons-in-law living at wife’s home and are unemployed”.

Vawda said that there is a question mark on the country’s judicial system, adding that the punishment was not given when it was time to award one, without elaborating further. The former minister further predicted tough times ahead for Imran Khan who he said looks set to get caught up in more worldly and legal entanglements, with ‘double and triple agents’ close to him also among those facing the wrath.

The former minister said that the morale of the security agencies can never be lowered. “It is my rule that you will get double brutality for brutality and love for love,” he remarked.

He said many innocent people including Arshad Sharif Shaheed were killed, adding that if the Arshad Sharif case is opened, the direction of the country will be corrected.
