Four people heading to a court hearing in Lodhran were shot by armed attackers on Wednesday, leaving one dead and the other three critically injured.
Authorities claim that one of the attackers was also severely injured by retaliatory fire and succumbed to his injuries after a few hours.
The police said that Muharram Khan, Pathane Khan and two other relatives, were going for a court appearance at the local court on motorbikes.
The opposing party in the case, the Shareef group, were waiting for them and allegedly opened fire as they approached. As a result, Muharram Ali was killed on the spot, while his brother and other relatives suffered serious injuries.
Police said that a member of the Shareef group, Ali Hassan, was also seriously injured by the retaliatory firing of the injured party.
He succumbed to his injuries in Victoria Hospital. The dead body and the injured have been taken to the hospital by the police, who have also commenced legal procedures.

Police claim that both parties are close relatives and their ongoing enmity stems from a goat deal thirteen years ago. Thus far, four people have been killed in this enmity.
On Tuesday, plaintiff and the accused in a murder case began fighting, turning the Dijkot courtroom into a fighting ring.
During the altercation, a police constable and the plaintiff were injured and shifted to the hospital after on-site medical treatment. Police detained five people on the spot and shifted them to Civil Lines police station.
Police said a case was registered on the complaint of In-charge Session Court Inspector Amir Ali Gondal.
It was stated in the case that harsh language was exchanged between Sheikh Ahmed Sher and other persons and the accused Usman Farooq, Malik Yasir, Adil and others in the premises of the session court.
The dispute escalated into both parties physically attacking each other. Meanwhile, Inspector Amir Ali Gondal, Amjad Ali Sub-Inspector, ASI Iftikhar, Saqib Usman and other police officers also reached the spot.
