Orders verification of voters aged 100 years and above

RAWALPINDI:

The Election Commission of Pakistan has accelerated its preparations for the upcoming general elections in the country amid the heightened political activity sparked by the return of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

In response to the election commission's directives, the verification process for voters aged 100 years and above has commenced. The electioneering body received a list of individuals aged 100 to 105 years from NADRA, which was then distributed to district election commissioners.

These commissioners have now tasked assistant registration officers with the responsibility of conducting door-to-door verification of these elderly voters. During this process, the names of deceased voters will be removed from the voter lists, while those who are fortunate enough to have reached this milestone age and are still alive will have their votes retained in the final voter lists.

Additionally, the scrutiny and verification of voters with code divisions in the new electoral voter list and census have already been finalised. The computerised registration of these voters is set to be finished by October 25th. On October 26, 2023, the verification of voters aged 100 and above, along with the data entry for block code voters, will be completed and forwarded to the CEC.
