Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt was recently conferred with India's official honour at the 69th National Film Awards in Delhi for her powerful performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi.
She was presented with the Silver Lotus and a certificate by President Murmu. As Alia posed with President Murmu, her actor husband Ranbir Kapoor was spotted capturing the moment on his phone.
Much to onlookers' surprise, Alia attended the event and received her award in a 'special outfit' - her wedding saree. The renowned star was a vision to behold as she stepped out in her famous champagne-hued Sabyasachi ensemble.
However, for the event, she swapped her heavy kundun jewellery with an elegant pearl choker and matching earrings. Staying true to her style, Alia kept her makeup minimal and added roses to her updo - an ode, we're sure, to her character in Sanjay's directorial.
Later on Tuesday, the Darlings star wrote a note, revealing her thoughts about wearing her wedding saree. Sharing a picture of herself from the event, Alia penned, "A special day calls for a special outfit. And sometimes that outfit is already right there. What's special once can be special again. And again."
Meanwhile, a few hours after the ceremony ended, Alia also treated her fans to some lovely pictures and videos from the ceremony. In one of the pictures, we can see her pose with her fellow National Awardees Kriti Sanon and Allu Arjun. In another, she can be seen smiling widely in a selfie with her husband Ranbir as she shows off her prize.
The actor kept the caption simple. "A photo, a moment, a memory for life," she wrote. Alia's post received love from her industry friends. Dia Mirza wrote, "So so so happy and proud," while Mrunal Thakur wrote, "Congratulations."
On the other hand, Kriti epitomes, both, elegance and tradition draped in a Manish Malhotra customised handloom saree that exudes sophistication. An ivory-hued Chanderi handloom saree is hand adorned by a brocade border and intricate zardozi embroidery.
The pastel pink, aqua, and soft mint dupion pleats intertwine in a mesmerizing display of opulent hues, uniting to evoke an exquisite and harmonious tapestry of colours.
On the work front, Alia had two big releases this year – Karan Johar's blockbuster Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani opposite Ranveer Singh and her first Hollywood film, Heart Of Stone starring Gal Gadot. She recently began work on her new film Jigra.
